What motivates you to workout and live a health lifestyle?

Control really, I've always been hell bent on having control over myself, my situation, my life. Realizing I also had complete and total power to control my health, the way I felt, the way my body looked and performed was an epiphany for me. I started trying to master that control 15 years ago but didn't succeed until about 6 years ago when I became plant based. Once I had a taste of how I could change my physical appearance and make my body do things I never thought it could, I was hooked.


What does my workout routine look like?

It isn't conventional, I workout 7 days a week because I have the energy and honestly I just really enjoy it. It's my time to think. I solve all life mysteries when I'm working out, lol


How do I maintain my hair?

It's tough as hell when I'm wearing my hair straight. I sweat in it alot but my natural curls work really well with sweat so oddly enough my hair seems to appreciate all the sweat though I wash it every week and do a deep condition. I also have an excellent natural hair stylist.


What's in my gym bag?

Lifting gloves, earphones, coconut oil, chlorophyl and two sets of clothes because sometimes I'm in the gym several times a day. Oh and gum, I can't make it without gum. Ginger gum to be exact.


How do I create balance between being a mom, wife and making time for the gym?

Well, I'm not married so that's easy and my other half is trainer so he understands. My kids come first no matter what, I make every game and e hang out as much as they'll let me. They are teenagers so they have a life apparently,lol. I stay on a schedule and my health is a priority, I work out everyday no matter what is going on, I need it to center myself.


What might you catch me doing outside the gym?

I run two business. I own a plant based meal prep business that I'm in the process of opening a physical location for, so I'm always cooking or creating. I own a realty investment business, that I recently started but have already acquired three homes and lastly I am starting an investment firm with two partners that should launch first quarter of 2020. So basically, the only thing you won't catch me doing is sleeping :-)


My best 3 health tips

  1. Start with your nutrition. It is the most important and most difficult thing to conquer but it is the key to better health and your physical abilities. People love to run to the gym first but that should be secondary, conquer your nutrition then hit the gym.

  2. Create a habit of health. I don't do restrictions but because I like control I refuse to maintain the addiction to sugars, meat and processed food that most of us have subconsciously created for ourselves. If you want it to last use a little discipline and determination and create a habit of eating correctly and doing regular maintenance on your body aka physical activity.

  3. Meditate & ignore. I meditate daily to ensure my day and thoughts are positive. It also helps me execute throughout the day. I ignore anything that is not conducive to my goals that goes for people and food. That's why I'm the Happy Healthy Chick.
