Our Dope Fit Chick of the week is, Health & Fitness Motivator and Dancer, Courtney Alston. In this interview she shares what motivates her to workout and a few fitness tips!

What motivates you to work out and live a healthy lifestyle?

What motivates me to work out and live a healthier lifestyle is that 5-6 years ago I used to be overweight. I was 255lbs and I wanted to make a change. Periodically I’ll look at my old pictures and it motivates me to go back to that era of time because I was very unhealthy, and I wasn’t happy. I am blessed that my lifestyle is healthier and more active then I was years ago.


What does your workout routine look like?

My work out consists of both Weights, Resistance Training, HIIT/ Interval Training and occasionally Steady-State Cardio.


What does your diet look like?

My eating habits consist of high protein, moderate fat and carbohydrates. I drink 1 gallon of water a day and 4-5 cups of hot tea. Of course, I’ll have a cheat meal every now and then.


How do you maintain your natural hair while working out?

I will basically put it up in a loose messy bun. I have a lot of thick hair!


What’s in your gym bag?

Well of course gym clothes. I’ll have my squat band, gloves, sweat cream and waist trimmer, and some supplements.


Do you prefer HIIT or Cardio?



What else are you interested in outside of working out?

DANCE! I love to dance. I am a dancer. I went to school and got my degree in dancing. Dancing is what got me to lose weight and get in shape. Exercise was just a plus.
